As with any institution, at Leading Saints we are constantly striving to refine our messaging so that we can continue to grow our audience.

During this process, our board of directors has been trying to answer the question, “What problem does Leading Saints solve?”

In an attempt to answer this question, I thought I would think-out-loud via the newsletter and then invite you to answer that question as well.

One tactic I use to brainstorm and get more ideas is from a writer/podcaster by the name of James Altucher.

Daily, he pushes himself to create a list of 10 ideas related to a specific topic or question.

This tactic forces your brain to come up with more than the obvious 3 ideas and see what more you can discover by sitting with the question longer.

Even if the idea feels crazy or stupid, write it down!

I have come up with some great new ideas using this method.

It’s simple and effective.

So here are my top-10 problems that Leading Saints strives to solve.

(These are simply in the order that I thought of them)

1. Leading Saints solves the problem of overwhelmed leaders

2. Leading Saints solves the problem of giving permission to leaders to step outside the norm (to be positively deviant)

3. Leading Saints solves the problem of a lack of leadership skillsets or ideas

4. Leading Saints solves the problem of a lack of opportunities for character growth via in-person experiences (much like youth receive via FSY or a mission experience)

5. Leading Saints solves the problem of a lack of community among official leaders or those who lack a leadership calling but still seek to influence their local church and community

6. Leading Saints solves the problem of boredom by giving people content to listen to while they do other tasks like yardwork, chores, or driving

…Now I am really stretching my mind to come up with more ideas

7. Leading Saints solves the problem of framing the problems that hold back leaders from success.

8. Leading Saints solves the problem of leaders being unaware of their weaknesses that are holding back their organization.

9. Leading Saints solves the problem of creating content about difficult topics that the Church couldn’t talk about without resistance from outside groups and media.

10. Leading Saints solves the problem of sharing the best ideas that leaders are using around the globe.

I might come up with better ideas later, but I’m leaving the list as is.

Raw and real.

Now I have three questions for YOU.

1. What is a problem you face that could be overcome by making a list of 10 ideas?

2. Add to my list. What would you say is the problem that Leading Saints solves?

3. Make your own list. What are the 10 problems your ward (or organization) solves?

Sincerely,

Kurt Francom
