Can we ever really do enough?

I mean, sure, in the spiritual and eternal realm we can’t, and that is why we have a Redeemer.

But what about in our leadership journeys?

This has been on my mind recently as I navigate my own leadership journey as an elders quorum president.

We have made so much positive progress and are encouraging culture development in our quorum that it is spilling over into our ward culture.

I’m really pleased with the result of our efforts.

But there seems to be always more.

More visits could be done.

More people to reach.

More numbers to chase.

However, a part of me is sort of satisfied.

Because I can’t force it on anyone.

If they need fellowship, they know where to find it by now.

If they need worship, we’re there every Sunday.

If they need help around their yard or in life in general, they can reach out.

Yes, there’s always someone needing an emotional headlock to wake up and find Jesus.

But when is the onus more on the lost sheep than the shepherd?

We see the sheep.

And we have developed wonderful systems and opportunities for the sheep to get what they need.

Do we spend our days constantly chasing the sheep around the meadow, even when it is determined to outrun us?

I think that once the lost sheep is ready, it will return to the Shepherd.

We will constantly reach out, but is it a sin to be satisfied with how things are going even when not everything is perfect?
